Garvin Rear Bumper
and New Crossmember |
Due to the fact that I hacked the heck out of my old crossmember
for the last bumper that I made,
this job was a lot harder than it had to be.
Here's the old bumer, will probably just be used for scrap.
I was pretty nervous about welding and cutting around my gas tank,
so we pulled it out and moved it to the front of the Jeep.
I found that cutting the crossmember close to the frame, then cutting
a little with the sawzall and grinding the rest worked pretty well.
The crossmember's are welded on each side of the frame.

Here's the new Garvin-Industries rear bumper and factory crossmember
ready to go.
I'm glad I took that welding class! Makes you feel like a manly man
to cut and weld stuff on your Jeep :-)
Bolting it up with Grade 8 hardware.
Getting ready to let the body back down onto the mounts and cheapy
1" hockey
puck body lift.
Done... at least until I start building the tire-carrier portion.
