LED Tail Lights |
|
I really like the flush mount of these lights and how
bright they are, and LED technology is just plain cool. I bought these
from Mesa 4x4 and
I would really recommend these guys! They have the best prices, shipping
was fast and cheap, and Jay, the guy I talked to, was just cool. The
instructions were easy to read and very comprehensive.

First take the old lights off.

Thanks to Mikey
here for helping all weekend!

Unplug the wiring harness here to get the old lights off. I then cut
the harness off the light side and wired it so that I could still unplug
the LED's if I needed to.

Use Duct tape on the body to minimize paint chipping.

If you have a rack like mine on the back, I STRONGLY
suggest taking it off before you do this if you are using a jig-saw
like me. I had a hard time maneuvering near the rack and as a result
it got wild on me and gouged my body in a couple of place above the
hole, you can see in the next picture... :-(
Better yet, go to a hardware store and get a hole-saw the right size
and use that instead.

You can see the two little gouges above the hole.

Wired up and turned on...

Brake lights on, good they work!

Now to hack the relay. When you install LED tail lights, your relay
thinks you have a burnt bulb, so it blinks really fast. You can either
go buy a new relay made for this application or you can hack your present
relay by cutting this trace and disabling the detection part of the
circuit. You can get more detailed instructions here:
